An adventurous client asked for a custom wine rack, so I decided to see what could be done with materials I had on hand in my workshop. The previous year I had acquired some jacaranda trunks and cut them into live-edge slabs, expecting to find some interesting uses for them. I had also recently finished construction on the workshop itself and had some extra 4×4″ SHS steel tube left over from the columns, which incidentally was a pretty good fit for a wine bottle. Combining the two resulted in a slab of jacaranda acting as a spine, supporting clusters of steel tubes which can store up to 33 wine bottles.
